The N13 is a turbocharged straight-4 automobile engine from BMW. It was launched in 2011 in the new BMW 1 Series, 116i/118i models. The N13 engine continues BMW's EfficientDynamics and will replace naturally aspirated BMW N43 four-cylinder engine. Aluminium engine block is from MINI Cooper S and shares its bore/stroke dimensions. Except engine block, N13 is all new engine and it shares a lot of technology with BMW N20 engine, such as BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with twin-scroll turbocharger, HighPrecision Injection, VALVETRONIC fully variable valve control and Double-VANOS variable camshaft control.
